Book Reviews
Thanks so much for your time documenting and sharing your tips & tricks! I’m certain this work will help many others with a variety of disabilities & those that work with them to enhance function as well. Your text is easy to navigate with videos & images. Further it has a fun & lighthearted nature making it enjoyable to read alongside being practical. I plan to use this as a real world example of the rehabilitative vs biomechanical model. Healthcare professionals need people like you to share wisdom for us to do our best work! With gratitude.
- Bridget H., OTD, OTR/LWhat a find! I am a retired Geriatric Care Manager. My job was to find solutions to help my clients live as independently as possible and for them to have the best quality of life that they choose to have. I wish that I had known about this book earlier. It is full of resources I never could have imagined, solutions created by someone living with challenges.

Sniglets
The story behind this sniglet is more about the cartoon on the left than about my new word. My sister has been telling me about Chat-GPT for a long time! I am a believer now! With a three line verbal request we got this cartoon! There are more sniglets in the sample and in the full text.
Thorattire – The clothes people wear for a Zoom conference when they are at home.
A sniglet is a word that does not appear in the dictionary but should! Sniglets were developed by a comedian named Rich Hall. His work first created and presented in the early 1980s. He currently has three books available on amazon.
The Lower Extremity Dressing Aid (MyLEDA)
As a rehabilitation nurse for over a decade, I thought I had seen all there was in terms of adaptive equipment. I could not believe that this device wasn’t in every therapy gym and home with anyone that requires assistance with lower body dressing. This tool would be useful for such a wide array of people from those that have undergone hip, knee, or back surgery to people that have had a stroke, have MS, or any condition that impairs balance and strength.
- Jennifer R, BSN, CRRNI have 2 massive words to send to you: THANK YOU. I have received my dressing aid and am very pleased with it. Thank you a million times. You have saved me so much pain.
- Jo D (UK)- Assists users to put on underwear, shorts or pants.
- Can be used sitting or standing.
- Flexible and easy to store.
- Encourages independent dressing.
MyLEDA Reviews
My husband had hip replacement surgery two weeks ago. He had the wonderful benefit of being able to try the Dressing Aid. Because I work, he was forced to be alone and had to dress himself. The Dressing Aid allowed him to put on underwear and shorts or pants without any trouble. We were both surprised at how easy and practical this aid turned out to be. We highly recommend this product and think it is perfect for people who have no help because they live alone or even for someone who wishes to be totally independent! It should be included in the OT packet for hip surgery patients. Thumbs up and five stars for the dressing aid!
- Tina HI’ve suffered from all over osteoarthritis that has caused me to stiffen up and have terrible pain. My left knee was replaced totally in 2013 and now my left hip needs to be replaced. My stiffness is also due to the degenerative disc’s in my neck and back, at every level. So putting on shoes and socks is a real challenge. Pants and underwear are another whole problem when dressing, so using devices to assist in these chores are a must! I have named this new dressing aid provided to me as “the magic eight” because it really is magically helpful in a sitting position or even standing while holding onto my dresser, it was a snap to get my underwear and pants on with this dressing aid. I am unable to bend my knees up into my lap so “the magic eight” was a simple way to loop my underwear or pants over my feed. Thank you so much for this great device!

About the Author / Inventor
I feel like I’ve been developing solutions my whole life. As the daughters of teachers, my sister and I were encouraged to learn, explore, and solve problems independently. My father was a special education professor so I grew up with an awareness of disabilities.
At an early age, I was exposed to people of all ages with a wide range of disabilities. In 1985, I was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. My first instinct was to learn everything I could about the condition. Fortunately, I had already completed my education and started a career with a Fortune 500 company that offered excellent benefits. My background in counselling gave me a unique perspective – I had the opportunity to practice what I preached.
I would be thirty-five years before a disease-modifying treatment became available for my type of MS.
